BIO: Raul was born in Durango, Mexico and travelled with his family to the U.S. as a child. He graduated from Rudy Lozano Leadership Academy in 2012. He currently attends Harold Washington City College and resides in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago.
Utilizing his natural artistic talents, Raul began volunteering at AFSC Chicago during the NATO Summit. He designed a series of posters showing the effects over NATO events in local communities. Raul was hired as a college intern in 2013 for the Youth Peace Building as an art and activism instructor. He currently teaches mosaic work to 6th and 7th grade students at Hurley Elementary School and has returned to teach mosaics at his former high school.
He provided illustrations for the 2013 If I Had a Trillion video submission “Monarch Dreams” about immigration reform. He also facilitated an art and activist workshop at the IHTD gathering in Washington D.C. in April 2013.
In his free time, Raul is actively pursuing his career as a tattoo artist.
